Coming Soon!

Last September, my husband and I spent several days in Marrakech exploring the medina and taking it all in. What we found was an exceptionally unique city that is a hotbed for artisans in all kinds of trades. The medina is a sprawling maze of vendors, riads (or Moroccan homes) and cafes. Everything about Marrakech – the people, the culture, the food and the sounds – are every bit as colorful as you would imagine.

The Medina is split into different sections based on trade – rugs, leather goods, spices, oils – you name it, you can probably find it. There is so much to see, you could literally spend days wandering and not see it all. My husband was smart enough to look into hiring a guide for a few days, Abdul, who really helped us narrow down our trip so we were being efficient with our time.

My husband and I came home with several goodies, but what we’re most excited about is the encaustic tile. Encaustic tile has been all over design blogs, Pinterest and other popular design publications lately.

In just a few short weeks, fresh from the Medina, a (very large) order of encaustic tile is coming to Gilded Heights! We’ll be sure to post pictures and pricing as soon as we can.

Welp. It’s up! Our tile, that is. The verdict? It’s so, so good. The saturation, the scale and the pattern. I’m seriously in love. I’ve noticed a lot of folks on Instagram commenting on ‘real life’ situations that aren’t necessarily picture-perfect or social media worthy like our feeds. Laura, a friend and client of mine, called me earlier this year with a question. Unfortunately, Laura had always envisioned a gender specific nursery and the surprise aspect made planning more difficult. So, Laura asked if…

Lighting can make or break a room. It can also be expensive.   Exhibit A: (Gingko Sconce via Shades of Light) Beautiful.. and $579. Ouch. Not necessarily for everyone’s budget.
